The City of Bothell conducts surface water quality monitoring to determine the effectiveness of City programs to protect, preserve and enhance surface waters. The health of surface waters and city streams are measured for chemical, physical and biological conditions. These include: chemical (Dissolved Oxygen, pH, Conductivity), physical (temperature, habitat, sediment, and large wood debris), and biological (stream insects, and fish populations) parameters.

Field and lab methods followed acceptable standard operating procedures or cited protocol established for each parameter. The macroinvertebrate samples are collected late summer using a Surber Sampler or a D-frame kick net with 500 micron mesh.
